On October 13, the Founding Assembly and Symposium of the Professional Nephrology Committee of Guangdong Medical Education Association (hereinafter referred to as "Nephrology Committee") was held in Guangzhou, which was jointly hosted by Nephrology Department of Nanfang Hospital, Guangdong Provincial Institute of Nephrology, National Clinical Research Center for Kidney Disease, and State Key Laboratory of Organ Failure Research.

Peng Wei, Inspector of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province, attended the meeting and made a speech. Hu Wei, Vice President of Southern Medical University, also made a speech in the aim of congratulating this remarkable event. Yang Hongbo, Vice President of Nanfang Hospital, Hou Fanfan, academician of Chinese Academy of Science, Director of Nephrology Department of Nanfang Hospital, Zhang Xun, Head of Medical Department, Luo Liangping, Chairman of Guangdong Medical Education Association, Zhou Zenghuan, Vice Chairman and Secretary General attended the meeting. Besides, over 120 experts, professors and committee members from Guangdong province related to the field attended the meeting.

Liang Min, Deputy Director of Nephrology Department of Nanfang Hospital and National Clinical Research Center for Kidney Disease, was elected as the first Director of Professional Committee over democratic election. At the same time, the first Vice Chairman, Standing Committee Member and Secretary were approved by voting. Academician Hou Fanfan was hired as Honorary Chairman of Guangdong Medical Education Association and Honorary Director of Nephrology Professional Committee, and Professor Zhang Xun was hired as a consultant. The newly elected Chairman Liang Min delivered his inaugural speech and stated the original intention of the establishment of the Committee and its development direction.

Professor Professor Zhang Xun made wonderful academic reports, talked about his 60-year medical experience and attainment, and advocated the strict standards for scholarly research and courage to take responsibility. All participants clapped loudly in appreciation and spoke highly of him.

Guangdong Medical Education Association is a first - class academic community governed by Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province. The aim of the association is to unite and organize medical educators to develop medical education. Supported by Nanfang Hospital, the newly established Nephrology Committee will make full use of the advantages of Guangdong Provincial Institute of Nephrology, National Clinical Research Center for Kidney Disease and State Key Laboratory to further promote the development of medical education. The Professional Committee will devote to medical education in the field of nephrology by means of conducting training courses for backbone physicians, further education programs, and distance education, etc., hoping to promote the bidirectional flow of talent and technology, improve the prevention and treatment of nephrology in our province, as well as to cultivate more outstanding talents to make a positive contribution for the dissemination of disciplinary knowledge.
