2017 Nanfang International Forum - Research Advances in Kidney Disease & Nephrology Academic Annual Meeting of Guangdong Medical Association was held in Huadu District, Guangzhou from November 30 to December 3, 2017. As one of the commemorative activities on centenary of Guangdong Medical Association, the meeting is hosted by Guangdong Medical Association, organized by Guangdong Association of Nephrology, and co-hosted by Nephrology Department of Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University and National Clinical Research Center for Kidney Disease, with more than 1,000 participants and listeners, including famous experts and professors, young and middle-aged backbone and grass-roots medical staff and students who are interested in Nephrology . The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for medical staff and students in exchanging experiences in diagnosis and treatment of current kidney disease in the aim of cooperation, and common progress. 

Professor Hou Fanfan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Chen Nan, an academician of the French Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Nie Jing, a National Outstanding Youth, Professor Hao Chuanming, Head of the Nephrology Department of Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, Professor Liang Xinling, Head of the Nephrology Department of Guangdong General Hospital presided over the meeting one after another. At the same time, we are also honored to have Professor Thomas Coffman from Duke University, Professor Wolfgang Winkelmayer, Professor Yanlin Wang from Baylor College of Medicine, Professor Christopher Wilcox from Georgetwon University, Professor Mingyu Liang from Wisconsin School of Medicine, Alfred Cheung from Utah University and Professor Lan Huiyao from Chinese University of Hong Kong, all together 7 internationally renowned experts and more than 20 famous domestic experts to share their thematic lectures and discuss with audience.

The meeting lasted for three days and specialized lectures were arranged every day in the manner of briefing, on-site questioning and discussion in the warm and interactive atmosphere. Lecture topics are related to both basic research in nephrology and clinical applications. Professor Zhuang Shougang gave report on "Role and Mechanism of Epigenetics in the Regulation of the Peritoneal Fibrosis"; Professor Fu Ping exerted "Practical Guide Interpretation of aβ Receptor Retardant in the Hypertension Treatment in CKD" ; Professor Chen Jianghua shared something on "Status of Kidney Transplantation in the Treatment of End-stage Renal Disease " and Professor Fu Junzhou talked about the "Evidence-based, Whole Course of Kidney Protection" and so on.

Attended experts and professors hoped to promote the development of nephrology in Guangdong province and nationwide as well, improving the prevention and treatment of kidney disease in the aim of making due contributions to people's health and well-being.
