The 16th Asian Pacific Congress of Nephrology and the 2018 Annual Congress of Chinese Society of Nephrology were successfully held at the Beijing National Convention Center from March 28 to March 31. Tian Yuan, Department of Nephrology, Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University, won the "Best Abstracts Award" for the abstract of the paper titled "Klotho-derived peptide 6 (KP-6) ameliorates kidney fibrosis by targeting Wnt/β-catenin signaling". Oral reporting was conducted. It is reported that the congress received a total of more than 3,000 submissions from home and abroad, including 865 English abstracts. Only 4 abstracts were awarded by experts from the Asia-Pacific Nephrology Conference.
The research was jointly completed by doctoral students Tian Yuan and Yuan Qian under the guidance of Professor Zhou Lili. By screening a Klotho-derived peptide mini-library, a unique small molecule peptide (KP-6) was screened that specifically binds Wnt1 ligand, thereby blocking Wnt signaling. This study is of great significance for the in-depth elucidation of the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease and the development of innovative drugs for the treatment of chronic kidney disease.
