The National Clinical Research Center for Kidney Disease (Here after referred as the center) has established professional database and biobank supporting the research. Now, the center has the largest renal tissue biobank storage in china which contains about 500,000 samples and 17 kidney disease related population cohorts. More than 3200,000 patients are included in these cohorts, among which, about 12 cohorts have been followed more than one year.

The standard of the biobank and database adopted the international common standard C-disc including the adverse events encoding MedDrug. The management system of the biobank is based on the Guideline of the International Association of Biological and Environmental Samples and professional SOP files. With scientific management procedure and checks at all levels, the data and samples of the center are more accurate, safe and be allowed to trace at any time.

Currently, there are about 48 cohort studies have been conducted based on the database and the biobank and 47 related articles have been published on the peer-reviewed journals. Some of the population cohorts have been shared by 27 collaborative hospitals and research institutes. Right now, there are 4 biological sample libraries (about 80 cryogenic refrigerators), 1 pathological room, 1 sample archives room, 1 sample process chamber in the center and equipped with full-time administrative staff. The scale, sample type, safety and management systems of the database and biobank will be improved as the research goes.
