Fan Fan Hou, MD., PhD

Dr. Hou is the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). She is currently the Councilor of the ISN, the member of work group for KDIGO Clinical Practice Guidelines, and the Vice-President of the Chinese Society of Nephrology.

Dr. Hou is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. Her clinical research interests lie in CKD and AKI. She had been the Principal Investigator of several large clinical trials such as ESBARI, ROAD, and CSPPT-CKD. In basic research, her interests focus on renal fibrosis and the mechanisms underlying CKD progression. She is the Principal Investigator of the Major State Basic Research Development Program of China.

Dr. Hou has published hundreds of papers in top-notch, peer-reviewed journals such as N Engl J Med, JAMA, JAMA Intern Med, J Am Soc Nephrol, and Kidney Int. She had won three times the National Award for Advances in Science and Technology by the State Council of China and the National Award for Best Clinic Service by Chinese Medical Doctor Association. She was the winner of the Young Investigator Award by APSN (1992) and the First Prize Medal for ISN Fellow by the ISN (2001).
